Macoto Goodies

February 23, 2011 Posted in Cute Stuff

One of my favourite artists is Macoto Takahashi. He’s famous for his pretty illustrations of girls with big sparkly eyes, explosions of flowers and fairy tale settings. These are a few goodies featuring his artwork that I’ve gotten in the last few months:

:!: A couple of postcards from kawaiishopjapan.com. These are actually from a postcard book, but KSJ sells them individually which is nice.
:!: A vintage set of pencils with one of Macoto’s gals on the box. I think it’s from the 1970s. The pencils themselves are sadly only decorated with a flower pattern.

:!: A lovely book called something like Girl Romance ~Macoto Takahashi’s World which my sister gave me for Christmas. It’s a collection of Macoto’s artwork from the 1950s to 2000s. This joins my other Macoto book Macoto’s Princesses which is a collection of fairy tale princess-themed art. Here are a couple snapshots of the inside of the book –

OMG! That’s just beautiful. Thank you for sharing Macoto’s work. I always admired this style, didn’t know the artist – off to see if I can buy it off Amazon :)

WoW! Macoto’s Artwork reminds me of my childhood animes. This kind of artwork is so girly that it gave me impression the artist is a girl… but I was wrong :P … Macoto captured my heart. Thanks for sharing! :)

    Denise – if there’s nothing on Amazon give yesasia.com a try – it’s where I got my books! ^_^

Fonyl – I just love the nostalgic look of old anime and manga. And yes, I was surprised to find out Macoto was a man too!

Hello there! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog.
Is it very difficult to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I’m thinking about making my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do you have any tips or suggestions? Many thanks
